Lost & Found

What do I do if I found a wild animal (rabbit, raccoon, squirrel, etc).
TAPS cannot take these animals – handling and ongoing care for them required that the individual be state licensed as a Wildlife Rehabilitator. Wild animals have specialize diets, and can carry parasites or rabies that can be transferred to humans. It is illegal to raise and care for wildlife.
If you have found a wild creature, please call the following numbers:
Care About Wildlife – Gail Nelson 309-830-6739 or www.careaboutwildlife.com
State Nuisance Wildlife Control 309-353-8947
*(mention that your is not a nuisance complaint, but a request for care)

We WILL put your name on a waiting list and WILL call you back when we get to your name on the waiting list. Please be patient we want to help. Since we are a no-kill shelter, our intake ability and the time you will wait to bring in a stray or owned pet will depend on adoptions and kennel availability.
